The War on Education

Why are schools failing?  Why are tests scores low?  What are the teacher’s doing? Blah Blah Blah….There are tons of questions and concerns about the educational system but they are being asked to the wrong parties. Politicians, Chris Christie, and a host of others think they know what’s going on in education.  Well, ladies and gentlemen, it’s called politics!  Too many hands are in the pot!

I’ve had a host of good teachers, I know a host of great educators, and I had parents who valued education! I repeat, VALUED EDUCATION! Evaluations are placed on teachers, but the ones who are failing may have poor evaluators.  Did anyone think about that? Is it not an administrator’s job or supervisor job in any industry to make sure everyone is performing a certain level?  Because the last time I checked, if a team isn’t doing well the coach gets fired not the players. Are there evaluations on parents?  Being in education for 18 years, I’ve yet to see 30% of the parents participate in the PTSO. Why are some well behaved in school? Why do some complete homework assignments and other don’t? Why are people afraid to address a real concern regarding attendance, discipline, and students who do not speak English?  These are real factors that affect the classroom, yet through these real components, teachers are supposed to bring 9th graders who are testing on 4th, 5th, 6th grade levels to the 9th grade level in a year. Why are the children clumped together? Oh yeah, because we don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. Let’s not forget about the bias treatment that goes along with whether or not you are related or connected to someone in the district.  And now, there’s a presidential candidate that appointed a superintendent without educational credentials evaluating schools in an urban district, influencing leaders to change their public schools into charter schools.  Wake Up People!  Public education built this country.  What’s wrong now is that the value of education has tanked.  A charter school is a public school with a specialty.  So why not create the specialties within the regular public school?  Stop being ignorant of the game.  Politicians are selling the ignorant that they know what’s going on.  Please stop falling for the game.  Our future – our students, society, is at stake.

Stay in your lane….babe

“Babe you look good.” “ You look sexy in those heels.” “That smile of yours warms me.” “Damn, you look good in that dress!” “And that ass…..mmmmmm.” “ I’m so proud to have you on my arm.” “ I can’t wait till we get home!” “You are the most beautiful woman I know. I’m blessed.”

All of these things are wonderful. However, there is the moment when he says while looking at another woman, “Why don’t you wear your hair like that?”  “That would look good on you.”  “Why don’t you do something else with your hair?”  “Have you ever tried eye lashes?”  “Why don’t you let your nails grow?”

The look of “Why don’t you do something different with your hair? Your belly?  Why don’t you change your hair cut?  Let me update your closet.”  How about this, “let’s do something different in the bedroom.”  “Let’s invite an extra guy over.”  Well, after making the mistake of saying one of the above, I responded and he was not pleased.

STAY IN YOUR LANE!  I love you the way you are…Love me for who I am.

I’m not opposed to spicing things up in the bedroom; or trying new styles in my wardrobe.  But consider where I work; what I do and if it’s appropriate.

There will always be someone more attractive, eye catching for either one of you. And when we have date night, let us do our best to impress each other.  Otherwise, Stay in Your Lane; because I’ve got this.

Are you following me?

With mayoral elections and other elections coming down the pike, the promise of  honor and loyalty remains to be a consistent song amongst runners and the incumbent.  However, there should be a diary.  A diary of all of the conversations and events that the runners and incumbent experience.  It’s very hard to trust anyone.  Not one official has proven to be 100% because not one official has 100% real power.  So, with modern technology, why is there not a diary, electronic diary, incorporating synopsis of details alongside an instagram or tweet?  This would at least assist the politician in doing the right thing for the masses versus self.

On another note, significant job holders such as superintendents and state appointed employees when taking over school districts should be doing the same thing.  If the objective is to be honest, good, and progressive as a community and society, then what’s there to hide?  A tiny provocative thought.
