The War on Education

Why are schools failing?  Why are tests scores low?  What are the teacher’s doing? Blah Blah Blah….There are tons of questions and concerns about the educational system but they are being asked to the wrong parties. Politicians, Chris Christie, and a host of others think they know what’s going on in education.  Well, ladies and gentlemen, it’s called politics!  Too many hands are in the pot!

I’ve had a host of good teachers, I know a host of great educators, and I had parents who valued education! I repeat, VALUED EDUCATION! Evaluations are placed on teachers, but the ones who are failing may have poor evaluators.  Did anyone think about that? Is it not an administrator’s job or supervisor job in any industry to make sure everyone is performing a certain level?  Because the last time I checked, if a team isn’t doing well the coach gets fired not the players. Are there evaluations on parents?  Being in education for 18 years, I’ve yet to see 30% of the parents participate in the PTSO. Why are some well behaved in school? Why do some complete homework assignments and other don’t? Why are people afraid to address a real concern regarding attendance, discipline, and students who do not speak English?  These are real factors that affect the classroom, yet through these real components, teachers are supposed to bring 9th graders who are testing on 4th, 5th, 6th grade levels to the 9th grade level in a year. Why are the children clumped together? Oh yeah, because we don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. Let’s not forget about the bias treatment that goes along with whether or not you are related or connected to someone in the district.  And now, there’s a presidential candidate that appointed a superintendent without educational credentials evaluating schools in an urban district, influencing leaders to change their public schools into charter schools.  Wake Up People!  Public education built this country.  What’s wrong now is that the value of education has tanked.  A charter school is a public school with a specialty.  So why not create the specialties within the regular public school?  Stop being ignorant of the game.  Politicians are selling the ignorant that they know what’s going on.  Please stop falling for the game.  Our future – our students, society, is at stake.

Unpopular Decision but…Let’s talk about it

Since I’ve been born (60’s) sex and drugs have been a marriage.  And even today, teens, adults, rock and rollers, various artists, models, well you name it who use drugs often have sex or pass out.  So why is the Bill Cosby ordeal being turned into him being a mad man and rapist?  The media first stated that Bill Cosby sneakily slipped drugs into women drinks to have sex with them.  Now that the documents from the AP came out stating: “Did you know you were taking drugs?” (Quaaludes) “YES”  The media has changed its angle to….Bill Cosby admitted to giving drugs.  Well if they knew they were taking the drugs….ummmmm  What exactly are we pinning this man for?  And it seems that every woman that came forward were women wanting to be popular. Beverly Johnson, the writer, etc.  And this is it….Why exactly were they alone with him in the first place?  Wasn’t he married?  Was there an interview for the Cosby Show?  I guess I’m the only person looking at this situation as…these women wanted more from Mr. Cosby and didn’t get it.  And here’s the opportunity to bury his livelihood and career.  Because last time I noted, taking drugs willingly is wrong and against the law; it makes for other things to happen.

Let’s Talk About this!

Wishing you well…Or not!

Do you want to go out?  What are you up to?  Why don’t you come over?  Do you have a minute…I need to talk.  Let’s go shopping.  Have you seen …?  These are the questions your single friends will ask at any time of the day or night…that’s until you move in with your guy.  The phone calls stop.  They don’t even check on you to see how things are going…I take that back…to see if things are going badly.  Once things turn out to work out and you’re happy…you can turn your phone in and actually get a pre-paid phone because you are not using minutes with no one other than family members and other people who are in relationships.

He says:  Why don’t your girlfriends call anymore?  What happened?

She says: I don’t know.  I thought they were happy for me.

She doesn’t know how to feel about this. She reflects and re-evaluates how she’s treated them.  She recalls always supportive when they were in relationships.  She’s helped them with their problems.  She gave them a shoulder to lean on and if they ever needed it…a few bucks for whatever.

Many women find it difficult to wish other women happiness.  Why is that?  They can do it when they are part of a sorority.  Or is that forced too…because you’re supposed to be supportive.  What is it about?  Women can be the most nurturing and giving human being; but when it comes to a friend having a relationship and the friend empty handed.zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz  the friendship sleeps.  It becomes dormant.  Were they ever friends?  Do you invite them to the wedding?  I mean, you’ve never had an argument to end the relationship…it just dissolved within the debauched friendship.

What do you do?  Do you call and make them respond to their insecurities? Do you just wish them well? Because really, that’s the type of person you are.  Do you care? What do you do?

Are you following me?

With mayoral elections and other elections coming down the pike, the promise of  honor and loyalty remains to be a consistent song amongst runners and the incumbent.  However, there should be a diary.  A diary of all of the conversations and events that the runners and incumbent experience.  It’s very hard to trust anyone.  Not one official has proven to be 100% because not one official has 100% real power.  So, with modern technology, why is there not a diary, electronic diary, incorporating synopsis of details alongside an instagram or tweet?  This would at least assist the politician in doing the right thing for the masses versus self.

On another note, significant job holders such as superintendents and state appointed employees when taking over school districts should be doing the same thing.  If the objective is to be honest, good, and progressive as a community and society, then what’s there to hide?  A tiny provocative thought.
